Sarah Hebrew has died in Kiriath-arba at the age of 127.  She leaves behind her husband, Abraham Hebrew, age 137, and their only son, Isaac Hebrew, who is 37.  She will be buried in the Cave of Machpelah near Mamre, in the country of the Hittites.

Sarah Hebrew was well known throughout the region because of the occasional international incident caused by her good looks.  Her struggle with infertility became common news due to the volatile discord between her and the surrogate mother the Hebrews engaged to bear them a child.  The surrogate mother and the son she gave birth to for the Hebrews no longer live in the area.

There was universal amazement when Sarah Hebrew  became pregnant and had a baby at the age of 90. Many expected either the pregnancy or the birth to strain her elderly body.  Mrs. Hebrew ignored the advice of the medical community, who said she should terminate the pregnancy.  She was repeatedly accused of being socially irresponsible and a bad role model.

During the pregnancy, she seemed to increase in vitality, both physically and mentally.  There was general surprise when the baby boy did not suffer any ill effects from his mother’s advanced age.

Many are speculating about whether or not Abraham Hebrew, a man of great wealth and influence, will marry again.  He would likely be accepted by any of the available women, but his devotion to Sarah Hebrew was widely recognized.

He has also clearly declared their son to be his only legal heir.  The father and son, regularly seen at the Cave of Machpelah, say they mourn Mrs. Hebrew’s absence, but continue to rejoice in the promises of their God.
