I was minding my own business one afternoon last week, doing some chores, when my daughter tuned on some music. A couple of songs into the list, the theme from Spiderman came on and I found myself thinking that would be a fun tune for new lyrics for this category of New Lyrics to Familiar Old Tunes. I didn’t have time to think more about it then. I didn’t think about it again at all for the rest of the day, so was surprised at what started happening in my brain when I tried to sleep. The tune and some new lyrics began coming to mind. I keep paper and pen by my bed, because I know from experience that I often can’t sleep unless I “release” such words on paper. So I wrote down the first line, then laid back down. No sooner had I done that, then another line came to mind. This was repeated several times by the light of my iPhone so that I wouldn’t disturb my husband’s sleep. I finally had nearly a whole song, but unfortunately did not know the tune quite well enough to know if I was “done.” However, I managed to sleep some while my brain worked on more of the song. I woke up thinking about it. Thus, I now present my new lyrics to God the Man, as sung by me. The lyrics are printed below and available as a downloadable pdf. If you like the song, please share it and like it on facebook and vimeo ! (To like on facebook, google, or twitter, there are buttons at the bottom of the post. God The Man
God the Man,
God the Son,
Everyone will learn what He has done.
Some deny,
Some will scorn,
Those who believe will be reborn.
He died – but He came back to life.
God of Love,
God of Might,
One of a kind; He’s always right!
Some ignore,
Some follow,
No matter what, they all will know
He is – the Force behind this life
He brought forth the light,
He rolled out the sea,
He gives me each breath,
He set my heart free!
Since He’s God
you can depend
He knows the beginning from the end.
Every day
is in His hand.
It will be as He has planned
No fear – because He’s in control!
(instrumental interlude)
There can only
be one God.
All other claims are just a fraud.
Be deceived
at your own risk.
I’m not falling for their tricks.
He gives —- a chance to decide.
He brought forth the light,
He rolled out the sea,
He gives me each breath,
He set my heart free!
God the Man!
God the Son!
He is the key to true freedom!
Some deny,
Some will scorn,
Those who believe will be reborn.
He can save and restore.
God of Love!
God of Might!
One of a kind, He’s always right.
Some ignore,
Some follow,
No matter what, they all will know –
He is the Great I AM!
