Summary: David hides in a cave for a while. Many of his family, as well as other distressed people gather with him. Then, the prophet Gad gives David the message to go back to Judah. Saul chews out his servants for not telling him about Jonathan’s conspiracy with David, after which Doeg reveals that he saw the priest Ahimelech help David. Saul refuses to credit Ahimelech’s truthful explanation and orders all the priest be killed. One son of Ahimelech escapes and flees to join David. Read from the World English Bible.
