Summary: Jehoash, a variant spelling of Joash, calls for repair of the temple. The priests do not attend to it in a timely manner, so after some frustration is expressed by Jehoash, Jehoiada puts a chest at the entrance of the temple to very specifically allocate certain money for the repairs. After that, it all gets attended to by men who are very faithful in handling the money. About 17 years later, after Jehoiada has died, Jehoash is attacked by Hazael of Syria and gives Hazael all the holy things and treasure of the temple to appease him. Soon after that, Joash is murdered by two of his servants. Read from the World English Bible.
