Reading Genesis Chapters 48 – 50

September 9, 2020 by Laura Blodgett Leave a Comment

Summary: Joseph is told that his father is sick, so takes his sons to get blessed by Israel. Israel then calls all his sons to him to tell them what will happen to them in the days to come. Included is the prophecy that “the scepter will not depart from Judah…until he comes to whom it belongs.” After Israel dies, Joseph asks Pharaoh’s permission to go bury Israel where Abraham, Sarah, Issac, Rebekah, and Leah are buried in the cave in the field purchased from Ephron the Hittite. Joseph’s brothers get worried that now Joseph will take vengeance on them. At the end of his life, Joseph makes his people promise to take his bones with them when God brings them out of the land. Read from the World English Bible.
