Reading Isaiah Chapter 40

January 8, 2022 by Laura Blodgett Leave a Comment

Summary: God says to speak words of comfort to Jerusalem, that her iniquity is pardoned. Then Isaiah speaks of the voice calling out in the wilderness to prepare the way of Yahweh. We are reminded that all flesh is like grass, but Yahweh will feed his flock like a shepherd. Isaiah does on to magnificently describe how the nations are like a drop in the bucket and Yahweh doesn’t take counsel with anyone. It is made clear that things have been told about God from the beginning. “It is he who sits above the circle of the earth.” No one is his equal, he never wearies, and he gives strength to those who wait for him. Read from the World English Bible.
