Summary: Sennacherib comes against Jerusalem after capturing all the fortified cities of Judah. He sends Rabshakeh to tell the people of Jerusalem not to believe if Hezekiah says to trust Yahweh, for no other gods have been able to save people from the King of Assyria. Hezekiah sends a message to Isaiah, who tells him not to be afraid. Then Rabshakeh returns and threatens them again. This time Hezekiah goes himself to pray to Yahweh and a message comes through Isaiah that Sennacherib has been arrogant, he will go away and not come back, and the remnant of Jerusalem will escape to plant and harvest. Yahweh’s angel kills 185,000 Assyrians in one night, so Sennacherib goes home, only to be murdered by two of his sons. Read from the World English Bible.
