Summary: Joshua tells the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh that they can return to their specific portions of land now. On the way home, they build an altar near the Jordan that makes the rest of Israel consider going to war against them. However, after an explanation, everyone is satisfied that no one is rebelling against Yahweh and that everyone will be able to offer sacrifices on Yahweh’s altar before his tabernacle.
