Reading Isaiah Chapter 58

January 25, 2022 by Laura Blodgett Leave a Comment

Summary: The people are seeking God and fasting as if they are doing what is righteous, but it is not a fast that is acceptable to Yahweh. While they fast, they still seek pleasure and oppress the less fortunate. Yahweh explains that a fast should not be about how sad they can look, but about feeding the hungry and letting the oppressed go free. Then their righteousness will go before them and Yahweh’s glory will be their rear guard. They will be like a well watered garden, called Repairer of the Breach. Read from the World English Bible.
